Aion Type-α II(アイオーンTYPE‐α II) is the successor unit to the Aion Type-α.
Background[]
The Aion series was developed by Doctor Novartis as successors to Pater-Mater. It was developed by Ouroboros' Thirteen Factories under supervision of the Sixth Anguis, Dr. F. Novartis. The original α unit was the only one of the three to survive, and was retrieved by Novartis for development, eventually resulting in the Type II unit.
It retains almost all the abilities possessed by the original, including a large spatial displacement field and the ability to generate weapons using this ability.Unlike the original that relied on the powers of the new Sept-Terrion, the II unit must charge up a reserve of mana. This unit is also capable of limited automation, and is able to track which opponents are a direct threat.
Trails of Cold Steel III[]
Arianrhod brings the Alpha unit with her to Erebonia as part of the Scoiety's efforts to retake the Phantasmal Blaze Plan and see if a vessel can gain power from combat. Without the Azure Demiourgos to power it, the unit must rely on charging power form the Septium Veins in a location with a strong concentration of mana. in the Alpha's case, this is the Sol Shrine where it is guarded by the Stahlritter. Millium Orion discovers this location but is taken captive, forcing Rean Schwarzer and new Class VII to perform a rescue. During this time, Rean summons Valimar to combat the threat of Arianrhod but the Alpha is more than capable of keeping the Divine Knight busy. It teleports away with the others when they are finished.
Later, it uses its spatial manipulation abilities to transports several railway cannons to the Rock patio, where they begin bombarding the area around Ordis. The The Aion is then used in the attack on Juno Naval Fortress, easily destroying the full complement of cannons. Rean and Class VII new and old scale the Fortress and confront Arianrhod, and afterwards Rean and Valimar take on the Alpha. Musse Egret and Ash Carbide also join in the battle in their soldats. During the battle, the Aion manifests its full spatial manipulation powers and launches the same attack that wiped out Garrelia Fortress, Valimar narrowly avoids the attack but loses part of his Zemurian ore tachi in the process. He is able to channel a substitute with his mana and the ARCUS connection and eventually defeats the Aion. Arianrhod summons her Divine Knight Argreion and destroys the disabled Aion before leaving.
Trails of Cold Steel IV[]
Multiple copies of the Aion type IIs were revealed to have been made when the Glorious attacks the Pantagruel. Mariabell Crois deploys them in the battle. The Alpha unit creates rockets using its spatial control ability and the various world leaders are forced to take evasive action. Weissland Army gunships try to take it down with a barrage of gunfire but are unable to penetrate its shielding. Gaius's Merkabah unit #8 takes the Alpha unit on, but is likewise unable to breach its defences. Attracting its attention, the Alpha unit teleports into the blindspot of the Merkabah and seriously damages it. The Aion teleports back onto the Glorious at the end of the conflict.
In the final battle, the Alpha unit is not deployed outside the Tuatha De Danann like the others. Gaius muses he spotted it lurking around the fortress but it does not fully appear until it reinforces Mariabell and Campanella. With the Aion now present, Class VII had little chance of stopping the duo and Ouroboros' forces fully withdraw from the conflict, teleporting away.
