Apeiron concept art (Kuro)

Apeiron, the Sword of Divine Darkness (聖魔剣アペイロン) is an artifact introduced in the possession of Gerard Dantès.

Background[]

Apeiron is a sword artifact that channels both demonic and holy energies, although what exactly this entails is not made clear. It is a mid-grade legendary relic that has always been in the possession of the Eldarion bloodline, the former monarchy of Calvard. Only those of the Eldarion bloodline can use Apeiron, and it presents itself to the next heir.

After the fall of the Calvardian monarchy during the revolution, the Septian Church sought it due to its status as a special grade artifact to be sealed. However, it had gone missing.

Due to its unknown properties, Apeiron can trigger an incomplete nuclear weapon. It is the only known object that has this ability.

Trails through Daybreak[]

Dantès has been using a sword as early as his unnamed appearance in Daydream: "Beyond the Reverie - Forward, Sword in Hand". It is first named when Dantès brandishes it before Dingo Brad and uses it to detonate David Callaghan's unfinished nuclear weapon. Despite the calculations for the weapon being unfinished, the special properties of the sword can mitigate the missing data and detonate it. This forms the crux of his plan in the Carnival, where he threatens to detonate a second one.

Bergard Zeman recognises the sword and Dantès explains how he came to possess it and his lineage. After his death, the sword goes missing. Dantès appears to be using it in Genesis Tower, but it goes missing again afterwards.

Trails through Daybreak II[]

Ixs and Jorda reveal that they have Apeiron in their possession, as well as a new nuclear weapon fashioned by the Thirteen Factories. They announce themselves as Dantès' children and therefore the inheritors of the Eldarion bloodline. They may use it to detonate the weapon and destroy Nemeth Island in a discarded timeline.
