Jaeger Dropout (Sen Monster)

Bugbear

Bugbear (バグベアー) is a newly founded jaeger corps comprised of dropouts from other corps, first introduced in Trails of Cold Steel.

Background[]

The uniform code consists of grey-turquoise military garb pants, long sleeves with white line patterns on the edges to the middle and form a ’T’ mark in the middle chest point. They wear light-brown strap-pads on the legs, the arms, and backpack straps with grey belt buckles on the chest area and back that leads to an emergency packet. They wear light-violet boots with steel-toe protection, light tan brown gauntlet protectors encasing between the elbow and the wrist, and two brown light-armor shoulder pads. They wear the same matching uniform outfit for their protective headgear, with a back-drape covering from the neck around to the two ears, with goggles and grey mouth covers.

Because the corps consists of dropouts, none of its members know how the jaeger lifestyle actually works, and they are more interested in the lucrative pay than hard work. As such, all of its members are arrogant and mistakenly believe that they are superior than other non-jaegers, but when faced with a challenge, they collapse in the face of adversity. They are considered to have a threat level of C-.

Trails of Cold Steel[]

They were first introduced as Comrade "G" hired them for 5 million mira to spur a war in Nord Highlands, but they were stopped by Class VII. Bugbear surrendered, realizing that their employer treated them as disposable mercenaries after Gideon summoned a monster to devour one of their own. They were apprehended by the Intelligence Division to be handed over to the Republic Army of Calvard.

Trails of Cold Steel II[]

Eventually, the continent-wide chaos caused by the Azure-Zero Project allowed members of Bugbear to break out of prison. Still desiring to form their own corps, they hijacked a civilian airliner and demanded ransom money in return for their release, though were on the verge of being forced to relocate due to landing in a communications dead zone. In the end, they were stopped again by Class VII accompanied by Hibelle and Klein, and handed over the the Railway Military Police and Nortia Provincial Army. The fact this happened was chalked up not to any competence on Bugbear's part but to security holes caused by the October War.

Trails through Daybreak[]

A few years after the October War, Bugbear was revealed to still be active in the republic of Calvard. They accost Marielle Aymé in the Blacklight District after she starts asking probing questions. They had intended to ride up on the chaos caused by Almata but are stuck in the city's lockdown. The Arkride Solutions Office makes quick work of them and Risette Twinings considers dropping their threat rank to D or D-. After reinforcements are called, Bugbear seems to think they have the edge and want to try working for Almata instead of Heiyue, whom they considered first. Bergard Zeman's appearance immediately causes them to retreat however.

During Pandemonium, Bugbear are not frozen. They try their luck against Van again in the Dark Light District but Bergard once again causes them to flee, combined the the appearance of several other strong individuals.
