Eisenschild (アイゼンシルト), also referred to as the Shield (盾), is a jaeger corps originating from Central Zemuria.
Background[]
Eisenschild is a corps made up of members who are all ex-military or have previous combat experience. They are based in a city state located in Central Zemuria and undertake missions that benefit the security of this city. They are fairly famous in this part of the continent and take requests to keep public order in other cities.
Eisenschild combat doctrine includes deploying multiple units, communicating between one another so that the second units can learn from the experiences of the others. They are regarded as being highly honorable.
Eisenschild have a friendly rivalry with rival corps, the Warriors of Kruga.
Trails through Daybreak[]
Less than a month prior to the story, Eisenschild were narrowly defeated in a proxy war with the Warriors of Kruga corps, splitting the proceeds 6:4 as a result of a ceasefire before returning to their homes. Geraint negotiates the terms with the Kruga commander, Hasan Al-Fayed. Aida's unit goes missing however following the battle. René Kincaid confirms to Van Arkride, who is leading a search for them on behalf of his client, Feri Al-Fayed, that Hercules engaged this unit on their way back, waylaying them for the purposes of training. The unit then disappeared around the vicinity of Creil village. There, Arioch, Melchior and Olympia slaughter them all. Aida and her unit were revived as ghouls through the power of the Genesis and the Arkride Solutions Office is forced to put them down. Geraint leads another unit that arrives just in time to witness Aida's passing. He grants Feri her custom orbal rifle and laments Aida's passing before heading back to his homeland.
Geraint later leads a unit against Shizuna Rem Misurugi and the Ikaruga, intending to scout out their strength whilst out on reconnaissance.
Eisenschild are one of the many factions who head to Oración seeking to act against Almata, and are hence-with caught up in the Carnival. They seek to capture Almata and restore public order. Eisenschild takes part with two units, Geraint leading the first. When the first unit is taken out by Ashladd and Iscariot, the defeated unit feeds back to to other and they come up new new strategies, allowing the surviving unit to put up much more of a fight when they in turn encounter Ashladd. Eisenschild and Kruga once again encounter one another and Van must decide which side to support, with the one he acts against withdrawing from the death game. If Van does support them, Arioch's actions will cause them to withdraw later anyway.
Eisenschild assists in the operation to clean up the remnants of Almata.
