Fang of Ragot concept art (Kuro)

The Fangs of Rahu (羅膝の牙) is an Artifact in the possession of Arioch.

Background[]

The Fangs of Rahu is a set of golden skeletal armor and accompanying halberd. It can grow additional pieces such as helmet when needed by its wielder. It increases the power of its bearer several fold.

The Fangs of Rahu grants its bearer immortality and indefinite longevity, but at a price. The armor can never be taken off and a great many lives must be taken to sustain the lifeforce of the user. The Fangs of Rahu is capable of moving autonomously, with glowing violet flames approximating the form of its last user.

The Fangs of Rahu was an heirloom passed down from one generation to the next in the Rahu clan, one of the nine Navagraha guardian clans of Iska. It was in the possession of Arioch at the empire's collapse and clan's relative extinction.

Trails through Daybreak[]

Arioch is always seen wearing the Fangs of Rahu, as he must continue wearing it to sustain his life. he mentions many years spent in the wilderness killing jaegers and bandits to sate the artifact's thirst. It is used by Arioch to slay the Eisenschild company led by Aida but does not appear in game until Arioch reveals himself to Shizuna Rem Misurugi and the Arkride Solutions Office in the Ishgal mountains near Longlai.

Arioch uses the artifact in his role as the dealer of penalty's during the Carnival in Oración. He is confronted and beaten in the Vashtar Palace ruins and vanishes having uses up his life force. After Gerard Dantès is killed and Melchior starst to destroy the ruins with explosives the party flee and encounter the Fangs of Rahu moving autonomously and standing in their way. Gralsritter knights Leon Balthazar and Celis Ortesia take over battling it.

Whatever action they take is not permanent however as the artifact is once again seen in the possession of a revived Arioch within Genesis Tower. He is defeated once again and the armour seemingly vanishes.

Trails through Daybreak II[]

It was revealed the Fangs of Rahu survived the battle and withdrew to the most relevant place connected with it: the Gardenmaster's headquarters, accessed from the statue of Sheena Dirke in Dirke Memorial Park. Alongside Ishtanti, the two artifacts act as guardians to the phase space and engage Van's party in combat. In exchange for granting them access, Lucrezia Isselee requests to be given custody of the two artifacts on behalf of the Grandmaster.
