The Azure Tree (碧の大樹) is a supernatural phenomenon that appears in the Wetlands of southwest Crossbell in Trails to Azure.
Background[]
The Azure Tree is described as an "unexpected miracle" never written in scriptures of the Septian Church, like the Salt Pale[1]. F. Novartis describes it as the result of a singularity.[2]
On December 26th, S.1204, the Azure Tree was spawned upon the completion the Sept-Terrion of Zero, granting KeA absolute control over space-time and the ability to rewrite the principles of causality[3], the ultimate goal of the Azure-Zero Project.
The interior of the Azure Tree consists of several Holy Precincts (神域), modeled after the mind of KeA and her contradictory feelings towards the SSS. It is similar to the Orbal Network in structure, consolidating the laws of causality toward its core. As it heavily distorts the gravity around it, it is impossible to explore the interior using an airship, such as the Merkabah.[3]
After evading the Beowulf, the Special Support Section are able to enter the Azure Tree with Wazy Hemisphere's Merkabah and make their way to the core where KeA, Mariabell Crois, and Ian Grimwood await.
Domains[]
Within the tree, isolated worlds known as Domains (領域) are based on the mind of their hosts. This means that Domains vastly differ from one another. The Domains themselves are sealed, being accessible only when the person with the strongest connection to the host is present. Until the hosts of the successive Domains are defeated in battle, barriers prevent access to the inner Sanctuaries of the Azure Tree.[3]

The Farthest End[]
Beyond the Sanctuaries and the Domains is the Road to the Farthest End (最果てへの道), which leads to the location where the laws of causality converge, The Farthest End (最果て). During the elevator ride, the SSS witness images that include the past, present and future, such as the Imperial occupation of Crossbell, and the alternate reality where the SSS died during their battle with Joachim Guenter.
At the Farthest End, they finally confront KeA and the two masterminds of the Azure-Zero Project. Mr. Grimwood explains the Sept-Terrion of Zero can now rewrite reality to one where Crossbell is dominant over Erebonia and Calvard, avoiding the deaths resulting from their strife, including Grimwood's family and Lloyd Bannings' parents, with KeA having already changed reality once. However, Lloyd is able to convince Grimwood against putting the burden on KeA, prompting Mariabell to turn against him, wounding him and fighting the SSS with her alchemical prowess.
The group is able to defeat her, after which she reveals KeA's powers included manipulating everyone around her to like her, making her turn into Azure Demiourgos with her in its core, the ultimate fusion between her and the Azure Tree. Despite its space-time altering powers, the SSS are able to defeat it and free KeA, who starts collapsing into a different world. Lloyd refuses to let her suffer the same fate as the original Demiourgos and follows her, landing in the World of Zero.

- Among the images seen on the final elevator, a shot of Rufina Argent burning in flames can also be seen, a still from the opening of Trails in the Sky the 3rd.
- The Azure Tree is visible even as far as Erebonia, appearing during the height of the Erebonian Civil War.
