Hey-hey! White Rabbit here! Lammy scanned this article and said it contains unmarked spoilers for all Trails games. Turn back now if you don't want to get lasered! Okay, byee!

Edmond Auclair (エドモン·オークレール) is the father of Elaine Auclair and the husband of Simone Auclair. He is the CEO of the wealthy and influential Quincy Company in Calvard.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Edmond is a middle aged blonde man with a wispy pencil moustache and bright turquoise green eyes. He wears a brown suit with tan accents and a red waistcoat over a white shirt. Edmond has an ornate purple broach with a cord tie around his neck.

Personality[]

Edmond is extremely proud of his lineage and status and dismissive of those he views as lesser in status, including immigrants or those of a lower- socio-economic class. He quickly grows angry when people don't understand his views but acts cowardly when threatened. He sees it as his duty to get back everything the nobility lost in the Revolution, being wiling enough as to fund illicit activities and subvert peace.

Background[]

Edmond is a descendant of the Marquis Auclair. In S.1184, he and his wife Simone gave birth to their daughter, Elaine.

During Elaine's childhood, Edmond did not approve of the relationship between her and an orphan, Van Arkride. In S.1191, when the two would have been 7, Edmond arranged for Van to be adopted by foster parents; however, he had actually been adopted by the D∴G cult. (It is unclear if Edmond knew specifically that they were whom Van would be adopted by.) This event started a drift between Elaine and her father, as she had suspicions of his involvement.

Edmond was also shown to be proud of his heritage as a member of Calvard's nobility, being a nationalist. He sponsored an anti-immigrant group, which in turn funded Almata. Elaine's suspicions of this motivated her to become a Bracer, so she could find the evidence of his guilt and bring them to justice.

Trails through Daybreak[]

Edmond is espied by Van and company when they arrive in Oración. Edmond glances at them but dismisses the similarity.

During the fifth chapter of the game, Elaine and Almata member Melchior made an agreement; she would add some excitement to Almata's battle royale in Oración by acting as the one member of its new 20th team. In exchange, she was given data by Melchior regarding Edmond's crimes. After having Renne confirm that the data was genuine, Elaine went to confront her father. However, Ashrad had beaten her there and was intending to execute Edmond, as he had been deemed a heretic by the Septian Church for his crimes. When Elaine showed up and revealed her evidence, Ashrad relented. Edmond tried to defend himself, claiming that he never knew about the incidents (such as the bombing of Creil) until after they occurred.

At this time, Melchior and Arioch appeared; since Almata no longer needed Edmond's sponsorship, they were aiming to kill him as he was now a loose end. Melchior also mentioned that Almata's boss never cared about Edmond's political or antiimmigration views. Depending on whether or not the player (as Van) was able to make the right choice earlier, in terms of figuring out where Elaine was going fast enough, one of the following scenarios occurs:

  • If Van and co. don't arrive in time: Edmond suffers serious wounds from Melchior while protecting Elaine from him. Van and co. arrive, and after Almata is repelled, Edmond is taken in for emergency surgery, remaining unconscious and in critical condition.
  • If Van and co. arrive in time: they repel Almata before Edmond can be injured.

In either case, Edmond is arrested for his crimes.

Trivia[]

  • When Elaine alludes to Van being driven away, Edmond tells her that she still does not "know about him". This implies that Edmond may had had some awareness of Van's demonic factor when he was a child, which was later successfully extracted by the cult.
