Captain Engels (エンゲルス大尉) is a high-ranking member of the Railway Military Police.

Appearance[]
Engels is a man with medium-length blonde hair and brown eyes. He is only ever seen wearing the standard uniform of the Railway Military Police, a grey jacket and jodhpur-style torusers with black boots. There are white patches on his shoulders leading to a small white cape attachment and he wears a grey pillbox hat. Engels is armed with a large orbal pistol.
Personality[]
Engels is fiercely loyal to his captain, Claire Rieveldt and the ideals of the RMP. He is grateful to Class VII for all the times they worked toegther but is not afraid to back down from confronting former allies should they risk impeding his duty. Even when fighting overwhelming odds, Engels maintains resilience and refuses to back down.
Trails of Cold Steel I and II[]
Class VII first meet and cooperate with Engels when the culprits hiding in Lunaria Nature Park are apprehended. He is part of the force that takes those responsible into custody. Engels is not seen again until Roer where an altercation brews between the RMP and the Provincial Armies.
Engels is left in command of the RMP's forces by Claire during the October War. He is tasked with finding as many loyal divisions of the army as possible in combined efforts to oppose the Noble Alliance. Engels is charge of detaining the duke Helmut Albarea after he is captured from Aurochs Fort and states he will look after him for now in the Albarea mansion.
Engels helps in the combined assualt against Heimdallr and the Karel Imperial Villa, wishing Class VII fortune in their efforts to bypass the Pantagruel.
Trails of Cold Steel III and IV[]
Engels has been promoted from 1st lieutenant to captain.
Engels arrives in Raquel soon after the bombardment of Ordis by captured Railway Cannons commences. He urges the civilian populace not to panic. Engels and the RMP also provide security in the Royal capital, both at the party in the Esmelas Garden in Valflame Palace and when the city is atatcked by various Magic Knight and Cryptids.
After the Great Twilight, Engels comes face to face with Class VII, who are now labeled as fugitives, in The Cayenne mansion in Ordis. Claire had placed the unit there, fully anticipating Class VII being able to break through defences. Engels expresses regret that they must face each other after having worked together so many times in the past, but does not back down. Even after he and his elite squad of the RMP are defeated once, they get back up and prepare to hold until Ferris Florald and Patrick T. Hyarms arrive to releive the party, allowing them to continue on to the Empress and Towa Herschel.
Trails into Reverie[]
Engels is briefly seen trying to apprehend an intruder, The Emperor when the headquarters of the RMP is attacked, but due to the advanced cloaking, he is unable to catch him.
