Kasim Al-Fayed (カシム・アルファイド) also known as the Khamsin (灼編) is the head of security at MTSC introduced in Trails through Daybreak.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Kasim is a tall man with violet hair and bright green eyes. He wears his hair tied up and sports a red two piece bandana. Kasim wears a black armoured shirt over grey trousers, belts and metal plated boots. He also has a white long-sleeved jacket and a brown belt with what appears to be a tower shape on his buckle. Kasim is armed with a large two-handled silver bladed weapon. The weapon tapers to a point and glows violet. It also shows the M.T.S.C. logo. Kasim is strong enough to hold this weapon with one hand.

Personality[]

Kasim carries himself very naturally, though has no openings to be struck, and truly is a skilled fighter and tactician. He is a stoic individual and not hesitant about following his convictions, having left the corps due to his many disputes with his father, one of which is whether Feri should be allowed to train as a warrior. Kasim also states that his path has diverged and the fight he has chosen is not the same as the Khurga.

Despite his fearsome reputation and superb tactical and strategic mind, Kasim can be predictable, allowing others to get an advantage over him such as his little sister.

He follows the Goddess of the flame Alusha.

Background[]

Kasim was praised as the best warrior in the Khurga Warriors Clan and is regarded as one of the strongest jaegers on the continent in general. He is the older brother of Feri Al-Fayed. He cut ties with the Khurga Warriors Clan and is now working as Head of Security at Marduk in Ored.[1]

After leaving home to work for MTSC, Kasim became the head of security. One of his responsibilities was training others, amongst these being Van Arkride for a time. Van describes his instruction as 'all over the place'.

Trails through Daybreak[]

Kasim accompanies Gilliam Thorndyke to Basel as part of the additional security measures after the city is attacked by Archaisms. He meets Van and the Arkride Solutions Office and thanks them for looking after his sister, who is also present. Kasim comes to their aid when a combat archaism attacks them from a self-driven orbal truck, obliterating it in a single blast. When it is revealed that Marduk have been keeping observation of everything using stealth drones, Kasim remarks that the existence of a reactor weapon would make conventional combat techniques and strategy meaningless.

Kasim leads a Marduk security force into Oración as one of the forces wishing to contend with Almata. They are caught up in the death game and forced to fight other teams until one one remains. Kasim's force are extremely successful and rack up a tremendous amount of access keys, soon becoming one of the last remaining teams. Despite a two-on-one disadvantage, Kasim single-handedly takes out Iscariot‏‎'s dual units and Ashrad in a single attack from his limit-removed buster lancer. Van's team eventually come into combat with him and he does not mince any words, stating he is simply following the company's decision. Van briefly engages with him in a bid to create an opening for Judith Lanster, but Kasim sees through it. Feri however, took advantage of his reliability and managed to steal his access keys from his pocket. the group flee with Van's allies staying to hold Kasim off. During the time in Oración, Kasim and Marduk are revealed to be under contract with the president. Shizuna Rem Misurugi meets and pesters him about their mutual employer.

Kasim once again accompanies Thorndyke when the latter is invited to the Revolution Day as a guest. He is part of the clean-up operations for Almata and to act as a proxy for his superiors to tell their general intentions. Van is quite worried to see Kasim meet with Rene Kincaid and Ellroy Harwood and they discuss the fallout from Oración ten days prior. The three decide to have a drinking contest, with Kasim using it as a chance to talk with one of the Anguis as well as one of the top aides of the president.

During Pandemonium Kasim comes to the aid of the group and takes out a large number of fiends with his buster lance. He stations his men to defend Bermotti's bar whilst he heads out. Kasim's buster lance optical weapon is used to break the barrier around the Vantaille District, allowing Van and his group to reach Genesis Tower.

Kasim heads home to spend some time with his family in the new Year. He plays an oud as Feri dances.

Trivia[]

  • After charging his weapon, Kasim uses 'Shagard's strike' which may be the name of his S-Craft. He is not directly fought in Trails through Daybreak so this is unverifiable at the time.
