Profile[]

Introduction[]

Trails of Cold Steel III[]

Alongside Professor Russell and Professor Hamilton, Professor Schmidt is one of the three disciples of C. Epstein—the man who invented orbal technology 50 years ago. Schmidt is a renowned orbal scientist and considered one of the greatest minds in the entire empire. Even as a young man, he and his friend-slash-rival, Gwyn Reinford, were responsible for numerous technological advancements. Together, they developed orbal trains, orbal cannons, and other large-scale machinery. Though his only goal was pursuing his own intellectual curiosity, his inventions have accelerated Erebonia's orbal technology to the state it is now. Before the civil war, Duke Cayenne—leader of the Noble Alliance—requested he study Ordine, the Azure Knight and Ouroboros' archaisms in order to develop the Panzer Soldats. He also helped Rean forge Valimar's tachi. Now appointed special advisor of the branch campus, he uses the facilities and members of the school to further his research. He takes Tita in as an assistant to replace his third disciple, George.[2]

Trails into Reverie[]

One of Professor Epstein's three disciples, a genius orbal scientist, and a special advisor at Thors Military Academy's branch campus. He possesses the harsh and demanding demeanor of a master craftsman, but behind his cutting words lies genuine concern for his second disciple, Makarov, and his third disciple, George. He is also not so harsh as to dismiss the incredible growth of his fourth disciple, Tita. He is currently collaborating with the Reinford Company to investigate the ruins of the Black Workshop, looking for a way to prevent further disasters brought on by the autonomous weapons it forged and left in its wake.[3]

Appearance[]

Schmidt is an elderly man in his senior years, with white combed-back hair, a beard, and light-blue eyes with a monocle place in the right eye. He wears a white lab-coat, suitable for his profession as a professor of technology. He also wears a tan light red vest shirt underneath with a black collar shirt under that, with a golden broach necklace that has a jade gem on the front, light brown pants, and brown shoes. He carries the pocket watch given to him by his first disciple, Franz Reinford.

Personality[]

Professor Schmidt has a very serious yet very hard to handle personality. He is very blunt with other people, not holding back in criticizing or mocking them for the obvious. On the other hand, he takes his research seriously and if he is very invested in a project, he might outright ignore whoever is speaking to him.

He only takes jobs that satisfy his intellectual research; once done, he does not care what happens to his work, even if it ends up hurting other people, using his job to justify it.

Schmidt takes immense pride in his talent, considering "rushed, half-finished" projects to be a disgrace. He doesn't appear to have a high view of Albert, considering him to be a "two-bit" tinkerer, but expresses jealously at how Albert was blessed with children who had talent.
