Giscard (ジスカール) is the head of the Artisans' Guild in Basel, introduced in Trails through Daybreak.

Appearance

Giscard is a short elderly man with white hair, blue yes and a short full beard. He wears full dark green overalls covered in utility belts and pouches. A white ascot scarf is tied around his neck and he also has an orange high-visibility jacket. Orange goggles can be seen on his dark green cap.

Personality

Giscard gives off an impression as being a grumpy old man, but he is very energetic and values hard work. He looks out for those whom he trusts and sees as honest and isn't afraid to call out unsavory behaviors from those he views are slacking or not acting up to their responsibilities.

Background

Giscard is a very experience engineer responsible for notable projects around Calvard including the Langport Trade Center and Louzhou bridge in Langport. He is the head of the Artisans' Guild in Basel, making him one of the three most prominent figures within the city. Giscard mainly operates from the Giscard Workshop (ジスカール工房). At some point in the past, when he was a 'young brat' Giscard met C. Epstein.

His current projects include orbal net deployment and work on a new factory for Red Star.

Quatre Salision is like a grandchild to him.

Trails through Daybreak

Giscard is first seen considering the wellbeing of Quatre when Bill Tausend takes him on as an assistant. Van Arkride first spots Giscard working on the Assault Frames in his workshop, but doesn't go in until later. When Quatre is in danger and the party comes to the workshop in search of him, Giscard wastes no time in taking them to the Linium mine. He calls for back up while the party rescues Quatre and thanks them profusely after his safe return, upgrading their security clearance and expanding their access to the city.

Giscard calls Tausend out for not doing his job properly when David Callaghan vanishes, whilst at the same time helping the investigation by doing research into Callaghan's supplier. When archaisms attack the city, Giscard tries to fight them off with a wrench until Van's group reinforces him. He once again has a harsh conversation with Tausend following Callaghan's 'death' soon after, he discovers there are irregularities in the assault frame parts orders, with several pieces having gone missing. When Callaghan's new form is confronted and subsequently beaten, Giscard arrives on the scene with Latoya Hamilton and several others.

Giscard comes to Edith to assist in the preparation for Revolution Day. he is helping Salvatore Gotti with the equipment for his ceremony in front of the Trion Tower. he meets up with Gien Lu and they discuss engineering and Giscard considers it important to maintain a good relationship for the cash flow. He is caught up in Pandemonium and thinks over how to rescue Quatre from the demon sphere. He repairs FIO and assist in taking down the barrier preventing access to Genesis Tower by providing technical support.
