Golden Sun, Silver Moon

Golden Sun, Silver Moon (金(きん)の太陽(たいよう)、銀(ぎん)の月(つき)) is a musical play performed by the troupe Arc en Ciel, starring famous actress Ilya Platiere and newcomer Rixia Mao.

The play was announced on the first day of Crossbell's 70th Anniversary and tickets for the premiere were sold within an hour.

What follows is a translation of the narration of Golden Sun, Silver Moon.

Act 1[]

This is the Land of Ra, an ancient kingdom blessed by the Goddess in heaven with great prosperity. From time immemorial the rule of Ra has been determined by the 'Princesses', dancers whose talents are believed to reflect the will of the Goddess. By competing with one another at the Altar of the Stars, the Goddess' will is made known and the rightness of the rulers is judged. Many people will support a Princess while having hidden motives. The most celebrated of these dancers in the present era is the Princess of the Sun, who we now see at the Altar of the Sun.

Act 2[]

In order to oppose the Clan of the Sun, represented by the Princess of the Sun, a new Princess was introduced. Backed by the second most powerful group in Ra, the Clan of the Night, she is called the Princess of the Moon.

Act 3[]

Whether it was by the Goddess' whim or a cruel twist of fate, the Princess of the Sun and the Princess of the Moon were sisters. The Princess of the Sun knew that the two had been separated at birth but for the Princess of the Moon, she knew nothing of this and felt only icy hostility to the rivals of her Clan. Worrying, the Princess of the Sun donned concealing clothes of pure white and a mask to hide her face and summoned her sister to a ruin deep in the forest. It was a place where the two had played as children so long ago, a secret place just for the two of them.

Finale[]

The sisters were torn apart by a terrible conspiracy. Even knowing this, the two were fated to fight one another. They were the Princesses, to them their dance was everything. They were the chosen maidens representing the living will of the Goddess herself and in the end, there could only be one. Their thoughts were as one, both feeling their renewed love. At the same time, each saw the other as their unapproachable rival. With their feelings buried in their hearts, the two Princesses approached the Altar of the Stars. Then, they began to dance...
