The Hamel Road (ハーメル廃道) is a road connecting the lost village of Hamel with Parm through the Parm Byroad.

Background[]
As part of Class VII's investigation into mysterious mechanical monsters, they head south from Parm into a secluded area with a closed gate where they're ambushed by archaisms, defeating them with help from Laura S. Arseid.
Following Ouroboros' attack on the Thors Branch Campus at their field exercise, Rean Schwarzer was tasked by the government to stop their activities in Sutherland. After obtaining permission from Marquis Hyarms and Olaf Craig, he and the old Class VII members return to the closed gate leading to the abandoned Hamel Road, where they meet Agate Crosner, who is also investigating Ouroboros and knows of Hamel. They agree to investigate Hamel together, without realizing the new Class VII and Ash Carbide are tailing them.
After finding Ouroboros' members in Hamel, they return to the road to fight without disturbing the village. There they reveal the Aion Type-γII, forcing Rean to call Valimar. When Ash's Panzer Soldat gets knocked out by the Aion, Kurt switches with him and links with Valimar's partner system, gaining enough power to face the Aion together. With the Aion disabled, Zephyr reveal themselves to have also been watching and interfering with Ouroboros, with Rutger Claussell summoning Zector to destroy the Aion completely.

Background[]
New Class VII and Randy Orlando follow Ash's trail, finding Tatiana defending the Hector Ash stole from the Weissland Army to escape. After finding Ash in Hamel, they're ambushed by Gilbert Stein's enhanced jaegers, but they're able to defeat them. However, Zephyr then appears, wanting to recruit Ash. After he refuses, they engage Class VII, going so far as to summon Zector again. Juna and Ash, thanks to their link with Valimar, are able to crack Zector's weapon, after which Rutger decides to retreat as the other branch campus students and allies arrive to help Class VII.
On the D-day of Operation Jormungandr, the road becomes engulfed in otherworldly energy just as Estelle, Joshua, Renne, Agate and Tita were about to visit Hamel. With Rean and Ash joining to help, they traverse the road, haunted with shadows taking form of Hamel's former inhabitants, including Joshua and Ash's parents. After fighting through, they're able to purge Hamel of the devil haunting it and return the area to normal.
