Mare (Kuro HC)

Mare, Van's Holo Core

Holo Cores (ホロウコア), often shortened as simply "Holos (ホロウ)", are a interchangeable key quartz developed for the Xipha, similar to Master quartz for the Fifth Generation of Combat orbments. As of now, they have been present in Trails through Daybreak, Trails through Daybreak II and Kai no Kiseki: Farewell, O Zemuria.

Description[]

Just like every quartz, Holo Cores are powerful components which strengthen the combat capabilities of the user. They are stronger than their predecessor (Master quartz) and also have new functionalities.

The main notable feature is the fact that each Holo has a built-in AI assist voice, able to navigate and to suggest actions during combat.

Every Holo passively boosts the overal magical attack and the amount of EP of a fighter, but unlike master quartzes, other stat boost are activated only when spending S-Boosts: This conditional stat increase is named S-Boost Ability. Additionally, it is worth to note that Holo Core do not provide any orbal art without an Arts Driver plugged.

Mare[]

Van Arkride utilizes a special Holo Core developed by MTSC, MK-ESV004 "Mare". In Daybreak's story the AI avatar of this Holo often materializes by resonating with the Blue Genesis when Van finds himself in a pinch. When in the real world, the AI gains free will (and a quite energetic personality) and time for everyone but Van and his companions stops. She is able to summon the "Nightmare-Clad Armored Demon" Grendel to help Van fend off his opponents. She has a close understanding of the Oct-Geneses.

It is yet unknown the details about this special Holo Core and how much MTSC knows about this strange phenomenon.

Trivia[]

  • The majority of Holo Cores are named after demons from the gothic grimoire Ars Goetia, which is also the basis of inspiration of the Seventy-Seven Devils in the Kiseki series. It is yet unknown whether there is a relation between Holo Cores and the Seventy-Seven Devils.
