Ishtanti concept art (Kuro)

Ishtanti (イシュタンティ) is an artifact in the possession of Olympia.

Background[]

Ishtanti is a large humanoid artifact of gold and white color. It resembles a feminine angelic being with several pairs of wings and a golden visor covering its face.

Ishtanti has the ability to seal away emotions, although its ability to do this is hindered if damaged and the memories will return all at once, overwhelming the recipient.

Ishtanti has two additional modes used for combat:

  • Dominatus mode - where four wings are used.
  • Dies Irae mode - where six wings are used.

Ishtanti was an artifact worshipped within a shrine by a small village of heretical puppeteers, who viewed it as a god or a messenger of a god. It was referred to as a shrine maiden, and other children would be offered up to it as sacrifices. Only Olympia could hear its voice. Other children in the village vanished over time until only Olympia was left. Her parents and other adults tried to oppose it from taking her but they were all slaughtered. Olympia prayed to the angel to not feel her emotions of grief and begged to be able to feel nothing. When he regained consciousness, the angel had bonded with her psychically. the otehr villagers tried to separate them but they were all killed by the pair. After slaughtering several other groups, Olympia was invited to join the Gardens by the Emperor who noticed she had synchronised so completely with the artifact. It was said she will only ever be able to live again if she can feel emotion, impossible whilst the angel existed.

Trails through Daybreak[]

Ishtanti is on the records of the Marduk Company and the report on the Eisenschild company that was slaughtered by Olympia. it is described as being made of technology not of this era.

Ishtanti appears for the first time in Tharbad's waterways, seemingly acting on its own, to retrieve the Genesis from Hydria Nubia after Van Arkride defeats it. Risette Twinings engages it in battle before it withdraws. It is later seen from that point on near its wielder, Olympia. She uses it as her primary weapon and means of transportation. It can act independently from her but mostly mimics her movements.

Ishtanti can be seen alongside Olympia during her appearance in Basel, and also during the Carnival in Oración. In her role as the guardian of the lowest stratum, Olympia uses Ishtanti in her final fight with the Arkride Solutions Office. After the battle, Ishtanti's history is revealed and its hold over Olympia's emotions is broken, flooding her with everything she had not felt at once. This overhwelms her and Olympia begs for death. As Ishtanti moves in to strike, Van can either hesitate and fail to stop it, or intercept it time, defeating it in a secondary battle before it is destroyed.

By means of the seventh Genesis, Ishtanti is reconstituted alongside a resurrected or recovered Olympia within Genesis Tower. This Ishtanti disappears following the battle after it is disabled for the second time.

Trails through Daybreak II[]

It was revealed Ishtanti survived the battle and now guars the Gardenmaster's headquarters accessed from the statue of Sheena Dirke in Dirke Memorial Park. Alongside the Fangs of Rahu, the two artifacts act as guardians to the phase space and engage Van's party in combat. In exchange for granting them access, Lucrezia Isselee requests to be given custody of the two artifacts on behalf of the Grandmaster.
