Joshua's heart is troubled by his memories and recollections of a magician offering to heal his heart. Estelle treats him with kindness and tries to look after him. When Joshua sits outside under a tree in a depressed mood, Estelle takes it upon herself to find a large bug to cheer him up. She shows him a human moth, and later pushes him into a pool to escape a swarm of pursuing wasps, then goes fishing. Estelle introduces Joshua to her friends Tio Perzel and Elissa who Joshua suspects as being Ouroboros agents at first. Estelle and Joshua get into a fight.

During the night, Cassius and Joshua talk. Cassius says Estelle knows what she wants out of life and how to get it, but Joshua does not. The next time Estelle and Joshua re out, they visit Perzel Farm where Joshua is asked to look after the twins while Estelle goes with her friends. Joshua plays them his harmonica until the sunset.

Estelle goes hunting for a large bug for Joshua around Rolent again but comes a foul of four Rhinociders. Joshua rescues her from them and scares them off with his evil eye craft. He cautions her about being careful, but their bond is strengthened.

Back in the present, on the final day of their departure, most of Rolent comes to see Estelle and Joshua off as they head to Bose and out of Liberl for the Empire. Joshua accepts the Bright family name and being part of the family.
