Olivert Reise Arnor (オリヴァルト・ライゼ・アルノール), also known in disguise as the bard Olivier Lenheim (オリビエ・レンハイム), is the oldest son of Emperor Eugent III and therefore prince of Erebonia.

Profile

Olivert Reise Arnor is a dramatic person who has a flair for the arts. He enjoys fine wine and is talented with the lute and other musical instruments and has a tendency to over-exaggerate a lot. Despite being seen as a eccentric, flirtatious playboy, Olivert actually conceals a mature and serious side.

Olivert is proven to have many of the required traits of a ruler and is shown to deeply care about his country. He possesses deep concerns about the Noblesse system that it uses and thinks that reforms are required. He is also wary of Osborne who while possessing the same basic beliefs as him; beliefs that he could undermine the country from within through his aggressive reforms, leading Olivert sought to rebel against him whenever he could. Ultimately, Olivert's main belief is that the country should be run on equality and better communication with Erebonia's international neighbors, through diplomacy rather than a show of military might.

Olivert also cares deeply for his friends and will help them whenever possible. His best friend is Mueller Vander; Olivier particularly likes messing with him whenever possible, such as disappearing at inopportune times. Regarding his family, Olivert loves and cares about his parents and is not hurt about being passed over for the throne. He tends to encourage, reassure and spoil his younger brother, Cedric who greatly admires him; and gets along well with his younger sister, Alfin due to their similar personalities.

Olivert was the first son of Erebonian Emperor Eugent Reise Arnor III and his first wife, Ariel Lenheim. Due to Ariel being a commoner, Eugent's desire to have her be the Empress of Erebonia was met with backlash by the nobility. While under Ariel's care, Olivert met his lifelong companion and bodyguard, Mueller Vander, who was destined to care for the royal family as a Vander descendant.

To gain favor with the Four Great Houses of the Erebonian nobility, other noble families hired jaegers to assassinate Ariel and Olivert. Thanks to the efforts of Mueller, Olivert survived, but Ariel didn't.

Olivert's father later married a noblewoman, Priscilla Reise Arnor, who became Olivert's adoptive mother. In S.1189, when Olivert was 12, Priscilla gave birth to the twins Alfin and Cedric Reise Arnor. Because of Olivert's commoner blood, he was not eligible to become the heir to the Erebonian throne (Cedric became the heir). Olivert was not resentful at this, and cherished his family.

At some point, Olivert began to adopt the "Olivier Lenheim" persona (the surname being a tribute to his biological mother), and this was him as a traveling bard and musician. He would use this persona for the majority of his involvement in foiling the Gospel Plan.

Although he was quite the troublemaker as a student, Olivert enrolled in and graduated top of his class from Thors Military Academy in S.1196-1197.

Despite not being in line for the throne anymore, Olivert still did his best to make his country better for his people. In S.1202, Olivert became aware of the growing danger that Giliath Osborne presented and went to seek Cassius Bright's help under the guise of having an arranged marriage meeting between himself and Princess Klaudia von Auslese. Mueller was active in Liberl's embassy at this time.

Before he could meet Cassius, Olivert, under his Olivier Lenheim alter ego, found himself assisting Estelle Bright and her group with putting a stop to the Gospel Plan. During this time, he developed a close friendship with Scherazard Harvey, who suspected him of being an Erebonian agent, but trusted him and proved to be a far better drinker than him. Olivert helped them capture the Capua Family sky bandits, and later, along with Zin Vathek, helped Estelle and Joshua win the tournament needed for them to be invited to a meeting with the queen. Due to his playful and insensitive nature, Mueller (forcibly) kept Olivert from attending.

He later assisted the group in stopping the plans of Alan Richard and ending the coup'd'grace.

A couple of months later, after Joshua's disappearance, Olivert, continuing to conceal his identity under the Lenheim persona, got word that Estelle was in Ruan and rushed to meet with her again. He rejoined her in her journey and helped her and the rest of the group with stopping the Gospel Plan, of which Alan Richard's efforts were a precursor to. During this time, Olivert met and formed a rivalry with Enforcer No. X of Ouroboros: the Phantom Thief Bleublanc. Like Olivert, Bleublanc held a flair for the dramatic and an esoteric nature of beauty, albeit his was significantly different from Olivert's.

Olivier revealed his true identity to the group as a member of the Erebonian royal family during the near-invasion of Liberl by Erebonia. When Zechs Vander, armed with a fleet of steam-engine tanks that were immune to the effects of the Orbal Shutdown Phenomenon that had plagued Liberl and southern Erebonia, showed up at Liberl's border, Olivert and Mueller (Zech's nephew) arrived to put a halt to the invasion to buy Estelle and her group time to put an end to Ouroboros' schemes. This was part of an effort forged in advance under Cassius's detection.

Olivert later helped the group with the invasion of the Liber Ark. If he is brought to the fight against Loewe, the latter will comment that he understands Olivert and Mueller have been investigating the Hamel Tragedy for the past year.

Trails in the Sky the 3rd

Olivert and Mueller were among the individuals summoned by the Recluse Cube to Phantasma and helped them all escape. During Star Door 8, a flashback shows that in the aftermath of the Liber Ark incident, he held a private chat with Giliath Osborne, and signaled that he was ready to challenge him due to his intentions to display Erebonia's military might and forcefully annexing smaller countries.

Olivert attended the Crossbell festival, under his Olivier disguise. He escaped Mueller's sight, causing the latter great irritation and leading to him requesting the SSS's help to find him.

Trails of Cold Steel

In March of S.1204, Olivert proposed the establishment of a new class at Thors Military Academy, made of youths from a mix of different social classes and genders. This was brought about by his experiences during the Liber Ark Incident and his own hopes of breathing a new wind into Erebonia which had become stagnant due to the Noblesse system.

The board of directors ultimately agreed with his proposal and after a successful trial run that consisted of students: Towa Herschel, Crow Armbrust, Angelica Rogner and George Nome; Class VII was officially established.

Olivert had also secretly created the Courageous, an enormous airship used to signify his desires to unite the country and put an end to the growing tensions between the Reformist Faction led by Osborne and the Noble Alliance/Four Great Houses. Victor S. Arseid was the captain of the Courageous, and Olivert had also become closely allied with Toval Randonneur during this time.

Trails of Cold Steel II

At the end of the previous game, the Erebonian Civil War broke out with the assassination of Osborne, and Olivert was initially missing. He made a grand reappearance when he and the Courageous reappeared to save Rean Schwarzer and Alfin from the agents and associates of the Noble Alliance aboard the Pantagruel. There, he was reunited with Bleublanc for a moment. After saving them, Olivert, Claire Rieveldt, Victor, Sharon Kreuger and Toval all decided to attend Western Erebonia (wherein the war was much more intense), and leave the Courageous to Class VII. During this time, Olivert delivered quests to Rean through an orbal terminal.

Along with Toval, Olivert helped keep Bleublanc and Duvalie at bay so that Class VII could proceed further into the Infernal Castle. Osborne revealed himself to be alive at the end of the war.

Trails of Cold Steel III

After the war, with the influence of the Erebonian nobility greatly diminished, Osborne now had greater control over Erebonia than ever. One of his acts of power was to revoke the Vander Family's guardianship of the Imperial Family (Mueller was reassigned to a military role), causing Olivert's political power to be significantly weakened.

In one final attempt to thwart Osborne, Olivert proposed the foundation of Thors Branch Campus. To do so, Olivert aimed to make use of the personal network that he had established throughout his prior adventures. Rean himself was one of the instructors and led New Class VII as its instructor. Olivert and Victor continued to operate the Courageous during this time.

Olivert, donning his Olivier disguise despite everyone knowing it was him, helped Rean and his students during their time in Crossbell. He helped fight off Campanella and McBurn and was upset to learn that Rufus Albarea was keeping the SSS in a metaphorical birdcage in Mishelam.

In the minutes before the outbreak of the Great Twilight, the Courageous, with Olivert, Victor and Toval aboard it, approached the Gral of Erebos. Seeing this as a threat, Osborne ordered Black Alberich to detonate the bombs that George Nome had secretly placed on the airship, destroying it and causing the seeming death of everyone on board.

Trails of Cold Steel IV

Olivert revealed himself to be alive during a battle between Osborne's faction and Rean/Cassius's aboard the Pantagruel when he, aboard the Courageous II, a secretly built successor to the original airship, intercepted the battle to turn the tides in Rean's favor. Olivert was working with Mueller, Vita Clotilde, the staff/faculty of Thors Branch Campus including Michael Irving, Scherazard Harvey, and even his longtime rival, Bleublanc. It was revealed that Bleublanc was the one who saved Olivert and Toval after the airship exploded (Victor also survived, but he was now under the influence of the curse and was therefore fighting for Osborne). Olivert did not survive the explosion unscathed; he lost sight in his left eye and he wore an eyepatch over it.

In an effort to prevent the casualties that would inevitably follow if the World War between Operation Jormungand (spearheaded by Osborne) and Mille Mirage (spearheaded by Cassius Bright and Musse Egret) were to occur, Olivert created the Radiant Wings plan to stop the war as quickly as possible. He managed to obtain the Bracer Guild, SSS and Class VII's support for the plan. One day before the war began, Olivert met with Scherazard at Mishelam and proposed to her, which she accepted.

Olivert's Radiant Wings plan was successful, with the masterminds behind the war, Osborne and Ishmelga, were killed. The latter's death caused the curse to dissipate, and the war was concluded in two days with minimal casualties. Olivert later worked alongside Alfin to restore the people's trust to the royal family after it was revealed that Cedric had supported Osborne. He later married Schera in a wedding attended by many of his friends he had met during his travels.
