Profile[]
Introduction[]
Trails through Daybreak[]
An agent for and aide in the CID's Integrated Analysis Division. He works under a competent superior, gathering intelligence alongside all the divided branches in accordance with the president's aims. Not only does he take care of large-scale problems, he also conducts reconnaissance on site. Throngs of female agents have been distracted by his wise and handsome looks and the consummately professional figure he cuts in his suit. He is surprised, but tolerant of his childhood friend Van's new line of work as a spriggan, and the two do not hesitate to take advantage of each other's positions. In contrast, he was the only one who supported his other childhood friend Elaine when she made the decision to become a bracer at the academy. Even after all this time, he still acknowledges her skills and supports her in her chosen field.[1]
Trails through Daybreak II[]
An analyst with the Central Intelligence Department (CID)'s Integrated Analysis Division. He is an elite government official who exudes an aura of confidence, able to gather various intel and conduct on-site operations without a hitch, even among factional rivalries within his department. His work is so impeccable that even President Gramheart has taken a liking to him, in spite of René's future ambitions to enter the political arena himself someday. René has known Van and Elaine since childhood, and was something of a big brother figure to both of them during their time at Aramis Academy. Still, he never hesitated to use his status as Student Council President to drag them both along with him whenever the need arose. Having earned the trust of President Gramheart due to his CID work, he is privy to the details of whatever plan Gramheart is working on behind the scenes. It's unclear just what René's personal thoughts on the matter are, however.[2]
Trails beyond the Horizon[]
A member of the Republic's Central Intelligence Department and personal aide to President Gramheart, who regards him highly for his reliability in executing missions despite heavy caseloads and firm attitude even in the face of authority. He looks on childhood friends Van and Elaine's relationship with the same fondness an older brother would, and the three often mutually leverage each other's professional positions. With Project Startaker nearing its implementation phase and demanding more of the CID's resources, however, Kincaid struggles to maintain these personal ties.[3]Appearance[]
René is a tall young man with swept brown hair, silver eyes and and glasses. Kincaid leaves a stylish and competent impression with his well-ordered violet suit, which is complimented by his glasses, and he has many female colleagues who admire his smooth working demeanor. René uses a military pistol in combat.
Personality[]
René is an intelligent and pragmatic individual who is open to taking advantage of both his own and others' positions in order to achieve ends. He maintains a calm and analytic demeanour and is not easily unnerved. As the most senior of the three childhood friends, he has been able to watch over the other two from a unique position and has been subtlety manipulating them to help them find happiness with one another. René is not one to let the past get in the way of his goals and he holds great ambition towards becoming president one day.
Trivia[]
- René is the only playable character in Trails through Daybreak to not have an S-Craft. He wouldn't get one until the sequel.
- Prior to the release of Trails through Daybreak II, a series of videos were released providing details on various groups the CID are monitoring in the form of 'CID Case Files', which René narrates. In a stream on the 27th August 2022, René's Seiyuu, Jun Fukuyama gave a live narration of another report for Van Arkride and Elaine Auclair.
