Saint-Arkh (セントアーク), also known as the Old Capital (白亜の旧都セントアーク), is the provincial capital of Sutherland. The city is known for its importance in Erebonia's history, culture, and the fine arts.
Background[]
Saint-Arkh is the oldest surviving city in Erebonia, with a population of 150,000 [1].
After the Dark Dragon, Zoro-Agruga, occupied the original underground city of Heimdallr and turned it into a Necropolis, Emperor Astorius II and other citizens were forced to migrate, ultimately moving the capital to Saint-Arkh. It served as the Imperial capital for a century from S.371 onward, serving seven generations of Arnor emperors. One century after the fall of Necropolis, Emperor Hector Reise Arnor I reclaimed the Catacombs and had a newly-renovated Heimdallr built above the old ruins, of which survives as the Imperial capital to this day.
In S.1175, Saint-Arkh was connected to the early railroad network in Erebonia.

Trails of Cold Steel III[]
Background[]
Saint-Arkh is the location of Thors Branch Campus' first set of Field Exercises. Rean Schwarzer and the new Class VII head to the city with Claire Rieveldt to speak with Marquis Hyarms for their tasks, which include investigating the area for sightings of mysterious monsters.
After the field camp is attacked, Rean obtains permission from General Craig at Dreknor Fortress to visit Hamel, where Ouroboros may be working from, and heads to Saint-Arkh to obtain permission from the marquis, who asks them not to reveal what they will find out there.

Background[]
New Class VII returns to Saint-Arkh on their search for the Sutherland singularity. There they meet with Kairi in the provisional Bracer Guild office, who tells them Pablo and Tatiana were in Parm.
After finding and bringing back Rean, Class VII finds out that Marquis Hyarms has been missing since the Summer Festival incident, and in his place, Marquis Wilhelm Ballad is acting in his stead, as well as having Tita Russell and Alfin Reise Arnor as guests. With Fiona's help, Elliot Craig plans to infiltrate the Marquis' Mansion with a performance. The plan succeeds, but Marquis Ballad reveals that the Imperial Defense Force are in charge and the guests are held in Dreknor Fortress instead, under the ward of Olaf Craig.

Noble District[]
Marquis Hyarms Mansion (ハイアームズ侯爵邸) is the residence of the House of Hyarms and office of its ruler, Marquis Fernand Hyarms. He is assisted by his butler, Celestin, and the two maids, Chelsea and Rifa.
Count Altheim Mansion (アルトハイム伯爵家) is the parental home of Mary Altheim. Her parents, Count Altheim and Lady Eleanor, are assisted by the Maid Alice. They have frequent visitors, including Aleister and Champere.
Noble District - Home is inhabited by Krista, a middle school student at St. Astraia Girls' School, and her brother, Charles, who loves to paint at the Cathedral Square. Their parents are residing in the countryside. They are assisted by Izzy, a scatterbrained maid. Their cat is called Catherine.
Although the residence itself cannot be visited, the Stanley household also resides in the Noble District. Sir Stanley and his son, Timothy, spent most of their time outside as his wife, the fragile Roxanne, rests at home. They are assisted by their maid Elma, who lives in the Residential District with her brother, Richie.

Cathedral Square[]
Saint-Arkh Cathedral (セントアーク大聖堂) is the seat of Archbishop Ramsen. He is assisted by Bishop Marco and Sister Liane. Frequent worshippers in the cathedral are Old Man Luke and Felicia. In Trails of Cold Steel IV you can also find Rekka here.
Albion Garden (百貨店《アルビオン・ガーデン》) features the following outlets: Boutique Chardin, ran by Aram, recommends clothing made from Parmen textiles; Luxury Foods Sterry Farm, ran by Rosumi, receives its fresh and high-quality vegetables through a contract with a farmer and delivered by truck driver Sanders; Weapon & Armor Springer, ran by Kestner; Used Books Ernool, ran by Francesca. Customers found in Albion Garden are Helena, her maid, Eclair, and Norma.
Hotel Augusta (ホテル・オーガスタ) is operated by Hotel Manager Ford. Assistant Maid Kisela says that the famous painting "Tree-filtered Sunlight" by Poissé has been stolen once by Phantom Thief B. One of their rooms are reserved by the Quinn family: Lord Quinn and his daughter, Luna, reside in the room while his wife, Helena, can also be found shopping with their maid, Eclair.
Other NPCs found in the area: Dyna, who runs the Fresh Juice stand; Krause with her daughter Etta and newborn son, Rico; Sir Sylvester and his wife, Lady Theora, are resting on a bench; Maid Cornelia visits Saint-Arkh to do groceries from a mansion on the outskirts of the region, owned by Lord Manfred; and Sir Woodward loves to marvel in the city's rich history.

Residential District[]
There used to be a Bracer Guild branch situated in the Residential District of Saint-Arkh until Bracer Guilds were attacked in S.1202.
Café & Inn - April (カフェ・宿泊《エイプリル》) is ran by the forgiving innkeeper Nash, assisted by waitress Corolla. Customer Sanders is a truck driver and delivers fresh vegetables to Rosumi of Luxury Foods Sterry Farm in Albion Garden. Customer Polmac is mostly drinking. One of their rooms are reserved by Old Man Ivan, his granddaughter Kimmy and their (lost) cat, Felix.
Orbal Factory - Chambers (チェンバーズ工房) is ran by daydreamer Chamber and his son, Coil, who is in charge of supply management.
Exchange & Antique - Demeter (交換・骨董品《デメテル》) is ran by Louvre, who laments that frequent robberies in Saint-Arkh, to which he refers as the City of Arts.
Apartments - Luna Crest (アパルトメント《ルナクレスト》) is a two-story building. On the first floor, Pacer the landlord can be found. In the apartment lives Old Lady Sonia, who looks after her granddaughter, Ran, whose parents, Terra and Bergin, are currently working abroad. On the second floor, Richie can be found cleaning the apartment while waiting for his sister Elma, who serves as a maid at the Stanley household in the Noble District.
Other NPCs in the area: Michella, who informs the players about the former existence of the Bracer Guild, and gardener Traph.
Trivia[]
- Saint-Arkh is rich in culture and therefore referred to as the City of Arts (芸術の都).
- It is not stated if Saint-Arkh existed before the fourth century migration, or if it was built/expanded due to the influx of capital citizens. However, using context from Black Records, the former is implied in that the migration led to overpopulation and subsequent territorial expansion of Erebonia. Saint-Arkh is notably the smallest of the five (later six) capitals, and thus it was not long after the age of Necropolis that territorial expansion brought about the Magic Knight Wars, a series of territory clashes fought amongst the Erebonian nobility.
