Hold on, it looks like Millium wants to tell you something.
Hey-hey! White Rabbit here! Lammy scanned this article and said it contains unmarked spoilers for all Trails games. Turn back now if you don't want to get lasered! Okay, byee!

Scherazard Harvey (シェラザード・ハーヴェイ), also known as the Silver Streak (銀閃(ぎんせん)), is an A-rank bracer affiliated with branches in Liberl. She is called Schera by friends and family.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Scherazard has dark skin and long silver hair which she wears in a braid down her back. Her hair is tied back with a red sash, similar to the one around her waist. She wears calf-length strapped sandals and a belted purple wrap skirt with a matching top and gloves. A cream shrugged shawl is tied around her shoulders and has teal accents that complement her eyes as well as hair tie and skirt's trim. She wears numerous articles of jewelry including several necklaces, rings, and bracelets, gold hoop earrings, a gem on her third-eye chakra, and a simple gold loop bellybutton piercing.

After the events of the Liber Ark, Schera decided to start anew by switching to short-cut hairstyle. Her new outfit's overall style is similar to her previous one, now wearing a black wrap skirt and matching accoutrement and solid mint shawl replacing her cream one.

A further variation of her outfit is shown later on in Erebonia. Returning to the purple colour scheme, she wears a two-piece top consisting of a corset piece and collar/short-sleeved piece which together expose her bust and navel. She still wears several wraps of various ornate patterns ranging from a red sash with green and gold circle patterns, a open slit skit with orange and green rings and another second sit skirt in a pale mint colour. She also wears cross-patterned tights and purple arm coverings attached to silver rings on her hands.

Schera makes use of a barbed whip in battle. It has its own pommel and hilt topped in a green gem and the barb is shaped like an arrowhead.

Personality[]

Scherazard is an easygoing person with a warm but strict personality. She has a sisterly relationship with Estelle and always offers emotional support where it's needed, but isn't afraid of lecturing her as a student either. In general, she is supportive of the people around her. She is very loyal to both the Bright family and the Harvey troupe for all they have done for her. She is quick-witted and prefers to analyze a situation before rushing in, and encourages her students to do the same.

She likes to have fun, especially by drinking with friends. Her unusually high tolerance for alcohol is probably from the fact that she has been drinking strange liquors since she was a child in the circus troupe. When she drinks, however, she becomes more bossy and strict about having a good time, a trait she shares with Sara Valestein. Olivert is a regular drinking buddy even if he can barely handle a couple of glasses.

She often teases her friends and has a playful and flirtatious streak that sometimes has a scary or domineering overtone. She enjoys shopping with her friends and is shown to have some skill in fortune-telling as she's frequently seen reading the Tarot.

Though she is often supportive to those around her, she often keeps her own feelings close to her chest and tries to deal with things on her own. As a Junior Bracer, she had difficulty relying on others for help and was preoccupied with becoming a strong person. Even later when she meets Luciola for the first time since she vanished, she expressed wanting to deal with her feelings by herself.

She demonstrates some distrust of traditional authority figures and rich people due to her background.

Background[]

Schera was born in S. 1179, believed to be from the south of Zemuria.[Note 1] She was abandoned as a child and grew up in a slum town. In order to survive, she became a thief and a pickpocket, and would break into the mansions of wealthy people to take their valuables and sell for mira. Other people living in the slums would sometimes steal from her as well, and on at least one occasion she was robbed and beaten by the men of the slums despite being a child.

She disliked stealing and living such a difficult, dishonest life. At some point, she was taken in by the Harvey circus troupe. She considered the troupe her family and took her surname from the troupe leader, Mr. Harvey. In the circus she was a dancer, but she was also taught how to read tarot cards and use the whip by Luciola, whom she looked up to and thought of as her older sister.

During the Harvey troupe's performances in Rolent in S.1190, Scherazard met Estelle, Cassius, and Lena Bright. She befriended the family and came back to visit them whenever the troupe was in Liberl. In S. 1194, her circus disbanded upon the sudden death of Mr. Harvey. In the wake of his death, Luciola disappeared. Schera travelled back to Liberl, at first hoping Luciola would reappear. She wound up asking Cassius for help in becoming a bracer. He agreed and trained her.

In S. 1197 at 18, she did her tour of Liberl as a junior bracer. She met and befriended Aina during this time and graduated to a full bracer. As a bracer, her guiding principle was to "proceed carefully and deliberately," a piece of advice she gave to her bracer trainees as well.

She rose to the rank of a C-rank bracer by the time of Trails in the Sky FC and earned enough notoriety to be nicknamed the Silver Streak. She also acted as a mentor to Anelace at some point.

Trails in the Sky FC[]

Scherazard is introduced as mentor to junior bracers Estelle and Joshua, and helps set them out on their journey around the country. She accompanies them in the investigations around the Rolent region, locating the missing jewels that were stolen from the Amyor and hunting down the sky bandit Josette Capua to Mistwald forest. She accompanied the duo to the Bose where she meets Olivier, a wandering minstrel who she is extremely irritated by but gets along well with as a drinking buddy. In the Bose region, they successfully locate the missing airliner and rescue the missing passengers, discovering that Cassius Bright was not among them. After their business in Bose is concluded, Scherzard bids farewell and leaves back for Rolent, leaving Estelle and Joshua on their own.

Scherazard returns to assist in the operation to free Queen Alicia during the coup, confronting Lorence Belgar in Grancel Castle with Estelle. She also helps explore the Sealed Area.

Trails in the Sky SC[]

Scherazard is first seen meeting Estelle who is searching for the vanished Joshua. Scherazard confronts Cassius about the way he handled the situation after Estelle rushes off in a panic. She later catches up with Estelle in the Bright Family home and gives her full support.

When Estelle returns to Liberl following her training in Le Locle, Scherzard is seen again entering the Grancel Bracer Guild with Agate Crosner, both now B rank Bracers . Estelle is invited to choose either Agate or Schera to accompany her around the country investigating Ouroboros. If Scherazard isn't picked, she will travel with Anelace, confronting puppets of Black Soldiers and meeting the enigmatic Campanella. If Schera is picked, she accompanies Estelle for the investigation in Ruan with the ghost sightings, the earthquake investigation in Zeiss and the events of the Mad Tea party and Threatening letters in Grancel.

If not already with Estelle, Scherazard will reunite with the party when Estelle's airship is rerouted to Rolent following the presence of thick mist surrounding the region, preventing them from travelling to Bose. There they are given the task of investigating the mist, the strange coma cases affecting people and the sightings of a black clad woman accompanied by the sounds of bells. It is clear Scherzard has a connection to the woman, and when they track down the source to the Mistwald Forest, Schera calls out Luciola after they break free of one of her illusions. Schera questions Luciola about her disappearance but she vanishes into the mist after they fight and defeat her mist spirits.

Scherazard accompanied Estelle and the others to the Axis Pillar and on the fourth floor, they encountered Luciola, who was waiting by the terminal. Scherazard asked why she killed Harvey, as she had the life she never imagined, cared for by the others of the troupe. Luciola revealed that Harvey was caring, but he refused to dirty himself to support the troupe, and as such, used his personal funds to keep the troupe active, eventually accumulating massive debt. Harvey intended to repay them, but not before handing over the troupe to an old friend of his who would take care of them. Luciola stated that she was angered that he was going to leave them to someone she didn't knew, and killed him.

After the party defeated Luciola, she admitted that there was more to the story than said; she had romantic feelings for him, but he did not return them. At that point, she realized that Harvey saw her as a daughter, and just "snapped". She explained that left Scherazard because she did not want to subject her to the darkness, before Luciola walked over the edge. Scherazard was able to catch her with her whip, and asked the others to help carry her back up, but Luciola refused. Luciola continued to explain that leaving her was the worst decision she ever made, but was proud of the mature woman that Scherazard had become before playfully reminding her to drink in moderation. Luciola then cut the whip with her fan, much to Scherazard's horror.

Although briefly shocked by her apparent demise, Scherazard kept herself positive and believed that Luciola was still alive, recalling that she would never try to perform an act she could never recover from, and reassured Estelle that it would not affect her combat capabilities.

Trails in the Sky the 3rd[]

Part of Scherazard's past is revealed in Phantasma where she was a junior bracer around S.1202 when she encountered Aina Holden acting suspiciously. Aina recruited her to help sneak into Grancel Castle, which was guarded by men in black - later revealed to be jaegers hired by one of her uncles to claim the will her father left behind. Upon being reminded of what she lost, Scherazard regained her bearings and helped Aina defeat her grandfather, acting as a witness and later helped her donate the will to Alicia's welfare fund.

Following this incident, she was promoted to a senior bracer.

Scherazard was one of the sixteen individuals summoned to Phantasma, with a grimoire of her being encountered in the fourth plane. The grimoire was promptly defeated by Kevin and the others, who then unlocked her sealing stone.

Trails of Cold Steel IV[]

Sometime after the events of Phantasama, Scherazard was promoted to an A-Rank Bracer. It is revealed that she was one of two Liberlian bracers, the other being Agate Crosner, dispatched to assist in Erebonia following the government granting permission for the Bracer Guild to reinstate operations. She and Wenzel, a bracer originally from Erebonia that had moved to Crossbell before returning, handle the east side of Heimdallr.

She was initially shocked by Olivert's death, only to somehow learn that he was still alive and managed to contact him. To protect him, Scherazard cut off all contact with her friends while continuing to monitor the situation in Erebonia. She reappears in the grand debut of the Courageous II, leaping down to save the heroes against overwhelming odds, whipping old foe Gilbert Stein in the process. From thereon, she would stay by Olivier's side on the bridge of the Courageous.

The day before the World War, Scherazard arrived with her friends at Mishelam Wonderland, where she promptly got herself drunk and participated in a drinking contest despite starting with a disadvantage. Olivert later proposes to her, which she accepts, and the two hold a wedding after the political fallout from the war is dealt with.

Schera and Olivier are shown to be making preparations for their wedding. Schera is given a beautiful wedding dress, tailored in the style of the Royal Family by Empress Priscilla Reise Arnor. The two have a heart to heart as the empress shares advice. Afterwards, Schera muses the tiara is a little bit flashier than the dress but dismisses the thought as being ungrateful. A call from her old friend Aina Holden brightens her spirits and the two catch up over the ARCUS, where Scherazard reveals to Aina that she intends to take a break from bracer duties to spend time with Olivier. In a impossible heist, it is revealed Bleublanc had managed to steal the wedding dress in the few moments it was unattended, leaving the tiara behind. Olivier and Schera embark on a clue hunt around the capital to retrieve the missing dress.

Along the way, Schera discovers that the crown she was given is inspired by the 'Crimson Crown', an immensely valuable piece of jewellery from the medieval period worth over 100,000 mira. The ancestral royal tiara had been stolen decades ago by bandits, requiring a replacement to be made for Schera's wedding. They finally solve the last clue and locate the dress in the Karel Imperial Villa, alongside the decades-lost ancestral tiara, recovered by Bleublanc as a 'wedding gift'. There is also a note from Luciola wishing her happiness and congratulations. After the wedding, Scherazard officially changes her last name into Arnor.

Schera and Olivier have disappeared from the capital following their honeymoon, and the Courageous II is nowhere to be found. A masked figure, C, claims responsibility for their abduction, but this is soon proved false by Rean Schwarzer and Class VII. They track down the Courageous II to the Nord Highlands, where the cruiser is being kept prisoner by disgruntled soldiers affected by the a simulated Erebonian curse and Elysium's planning to get hold of Olivier's Sonorous Seashell artifact. The ship is hidden behind a cloaking device well beyond any technology currently available on the continent.

A heavily implied to be pregnant Schera is rescued by Olivier, who had smuggled an orbal pistol with him inside his lute. Although she doesn't fight, Schera supports him as he rescues the remaining crew members. They manage to get the ship up and running after facing an assault from several autonomous tanks and Panzer Soldats. Schera accompanies Olivier onboard the Arseille II in the attack on the Retributive Tower.

Trivia[]

  • Scherazard is named and modelled after Scheherazade (شهرزاد), the storyteller of, and a character within, One Thousand and One Nights. Scheherazade, also known as Shahrazad, also served as the source of inspiration for the minstrel Shahrazad in the Falcom game Brandish VT (Brandish 4).

Notes[]

  1. Renne surmises Scherazard is from the south based on her skin colour.[2]
