Notes[]

  1. This timeline is largely based on the timeline from Wikipedia(JP)
  2. Events through Chapter 4: "The Mist Demon's Target" take place in S.1202. At some point during Chapter 4 it becomes S.1203.
  3. The ending of Trails from Zero contains portions in June.
  4. Akatsuki no Kiseki starts in September and continues into approximately October.
  5. Fragments begin either late November or early December. Not possible to confirm exact date.
  6. Details unknown. Aidios is said to reside in the Heaven.[2] From S.1203, the passing down occured was "millennia ago".[3]
  7. It is not known at what point in time the Septian Calendar was established throughout Zemuria. For the sake of convenience all events are dated according to the Septian Calendar.
  8. In Trails of Cold Steel II is it mentioned that "it's established immediately after the Great Collapse".[20] Adjudicator Arnor was affiliated with neither Kins of Fire and Kin of Earth.[21] The Black Records were initiated by the first Arnor for the 1206 years to follow,[22] suggesting that the first Arnor already lived at this time.
  9. The elder here is the predecessor of Roselia Millstein.[23]
  10. The cathedral was built under reign of Sion Arnor, the third emperor.[11] It is not known whether the nation he ruled over was already referred to as Erebonia.
  11. In S.1202, Bishop Reval says they "celebrate the 1120th year of the Grancel Cathedral's history".[2]
  12. In games released after Trails in the Sky the 3rd it is revealed the events of Trails in the Sky SC occur in S.1202 and S.1203. With the majority of the game taking place in S.1202 but no clear indication as to where S.1203 starts, it will be assumed statements in Chapter 4: "The Mist Demon's Target" onward are said in S.1202.
  13. In S.1202,[Note 12] Kloe speaks of "go back as far as nine hundred years, to Liberl's founding".[17][Supplementary 1]
  14. In Trails in the Sky FC, Bishop Reval says that in "1120th year of the Grancel Cathedral's history" (ca. S.82), the cathedral "was founded alongside the royal bloodline of Liberl Kingdom".[2] Archbishop Currant says the Septian Church and Royal Family have "cooperated with one another's efforts for over 1000 years now".[2] Professor Alba says the Royal Family's "roots go back more than a thousand years".[2] All these statements refer specifically to the Royal Family (House of Von Auslese), not to the Liberl Kingdom itself.
  15. Takes place "200 years" after foundation of Heimdallr and "100 years" before Emperor Hector I reclaimed the capital.[24][25] Thomas Lysander says it happens "300 years" after the Great Collapse and, from S.1206, "900 years" before.,[10] meaning the exact moment of Zoro-Agruga's appearance may differ.
  16. Exact year uknown. In S.1206, Black Alberich describes the events as "900 years ago".[27] Black Record, Volume 1 describes the disappearance of the Primal Ground as "200 years [after Heimdallr's foundation as the imperial capital in S.81]",[11] placing these events at the start of Dark Dragon Zoro-Agruga's appearance.
  17. The Karel Imperial Villa did not yet exist during the Dark Ages as it was built during the Middle Ages.
  18. Exact date unknown. The Imperial Museum lists the Stargazer's Tower from the fourth century; the bell itself is considered older than the tower.[28]
  19. It is unknown when exactly Second Roselia was born as the original Roselia's familiar. In S.1206 in Trails of Cold Steel III, she claims to be "about 800 years" old,[10], which is re-iterated in Trails into Reverie's Kiseki de Pon episode, where the correct answer to Roselia's age is about "800 years",[29] meaning she was born in the second half of the S.300s.
  20. From S.527, these events took place "150 years prior";[30] from S.1206, "800 years".[25] The imperial capital was recaptured on S.371. It is unknown when Testa-Rossa exactly was awakened. According to the Confidential Synopsis, Hector I reigned as the fifth emperor after Astorius II.[Supplementary 2]
  21. In S.1206, it is said the Valflame Palace was completed "roughly 800 years ago", suggesting it was completed circa S.400,[32] suggesting construction started immediately after sealing the Testa-Rossa underneath Heimdallr.
  22. Starting "800 years" before S.1206, every war in Erebonia would see the Divine Knights deployed.[10][33]
  23. Exact year unknown. Musse Egret says they left "around the end of the Dark Ages", referring to S.500.[34]
  24. Exact year unknown. "[Ordis Cathedral] was built over 600 years ago. The lord at the time had it built as part of a large-scale development plan."[Needs reference]
  25. Exact period unknown. From S.1204 it was "more than 500 years ago".[38][7]
  26. In S.1203, the baby dragon says it's "only 320 years old".[39]
  27. Exact year unknown. "Towards the end of the Middle Ages"[12], it is stated in S.1204 that the IBC started "close to 300 years ago", putting it between S.900 and S.950[12]
  28. From S.949, it occurs "[t]hree years prior he had reached the land of Nord"[41]
  29. From the fall of S.949, when Dreichels Reise Arnor started raising his army, it was said "half a year later",[44][45] and during the first half of the War of the Lions.[41]
  30. From the fall of S.949, when Dreichels Reise Arnor started raising his army, it was said "half a year later",[44] "soon after" the death of Roland Vander.[45]
  31. The trial took place after the Palatinate Knight was destroyed and before the infiltration of the Infernal Castle on July, 1st.
  32. On July 24th, Manager Verdy of Department Store Plaza Biforst says that " tomorrow happens to mark the anniversary of the war's end", which puts the end of the war on 25 July rather than 4 July.[49]
  33. The cause of her death is not generally known, leading to rumours up to the present-day.[50] Roselia took away her corpse,[10] leaving behind only rumours regarding the disappearance of her corpse.[51]
  34. On 30 December S.1204, Valimar says he "went to sleep 250 years, 128 days ago". If months have had the same amount of days as S.1204 throughout the years, it means he was put to rest on 24 August.[52] However, in the Black Records, Volume 4 of Trails of Cold Steel III, it is said Valimar was put to rest in the year the War of the Lions ended.[46]
  35. The coronation took place "in the year the War of the Lions ended".[46]
  36. The what Dreichels Reise Arnor calls "darkness" bothers him "after the War of the Lions".[53] Even though he came to realise it was a curse, he decided to keep it a secret and not rely on Holy Beast Roselia since the curse was the result of "human actions".[54]
  37. The resurrection happened "half a year after" the War of the Lions ended.[10] making late S.952 also possible. At this time, the "hidden village of the Hexen Clan" already referred to Eryn.[56]
  38. Exact year unknown. In S.1204, Thors Military Academy principal Vandyck says that it was "founded almost 220 years ago" and "[t]hirty years after becoming Emperor, in the later years of [Dreichels'] life". Considering S.1204 marks the year of "Thors' two-hundred and fifteenth entrance ceremony" and assuming the entrance ceremonies have been held every year without interruption during any wars, the first entrance ceremony was held in S.990. Therefore, it can be assumed that Thors Military Academy was founded between S.983 and S.990. In Trails of Cold Steel III, however, it was said to have been established in "20 years earlier" in S.994 [46] and "230 years ago" in the present day of S.1206,[59] putting thefoundation year in the S.970s.
  39. During the bonfire scene in the Finale of Trails of Cold Steel, Claire Rieveldt tells Rean Schwarzer he will be part of Thors Military Academy's "221st [graduating class]". Assuming that one graduating class corresponds with one Septian Calendar year would put the first graduating class enrolling in S.984.
  40. The year S.994 is based on the year mentioned in Black Records/The Lionheart Emperor of the Black Records.[46]
  41. From S.1206, they are said to have taken place "200 years ago" and "50 years after" the War of the Lions.,[25] passed down as a folklore about vampires. The novel series that is based on these events, Red Moon Rose, is set in approximately S.1010.
  42. In S.1206, it happened "about 200 years ago",[60] suggesting around S.1000. Up until this piont, Hexen Clan and Septian Church had unspecified differences.[60]
  43. In S.1206, it is said to have been "over 200 years".[62]
  44. In S.1206, it is said to have been "over 200 years".[32]
  45. In S.1208, Dingo Brad reports that this took place "130 years ago" (around S.1078).[64]
  46. In S.1208, Giselle says that "their activities date back over 130 years" (around S.1078).[64]
  47. Before Trails through Daybreak confirmed the exact date, the founding of Calvard Republic was hinted at in previous games. In Trails in the Sky FC, the play Madrigal of the White Magnolia (set in S.1100), states "[i]t has been roughly ten years since the eastern republic was founded".[66] In S.1204, Cao Lee states it's been 100 years "after the democratization of the Calvard Republic."[67]. In Trails to Azure, President Samuel Rocksmith says that the constitution of Calvard was enacted "around the time of the revolution hundred years ago".[68] In Trails of Cold Steel IV, Marcel Nielsen says it has been "hundred years".[21] These claims suggest Calvard transitioned to republicanism in circa S.1100.
  48. Exact year unknown. In S.1204, Imperial Chronicle Receptionist Citron says it has been around "for over 100 years".[49]
  49. In S.1208, it is said it "has been around for over a hundred years".[64]
  50. From S.1206, the war took place "about 70 years ago",[70] "72 years" since the then-upcoming Great War in S.1206,[71] suggesting the war started in S.1130 and ended by S.1134. Exact duration of the war is unknown. Erebonia has not engaged in wars with other countries since this war until the Great War in S.1206.[70]
  51. Established as a sovereign state co-governed by both Erebonia and Calvard.[72] Crossbell had been an Erebonian province for a century, but with Calvard's power as a nation growing a concession was made to split government of the territory between the two powers.[21] In S.1204, Elie MacDowell says it was "nearly 100 years ago" since "Imperial reign". [73]
  52. Tio Plato says that Revache's history goes back to Crossbell's foundation "around 1130".
  53. Exact year unknown due to the gap between the statements of Otto, claiming it has been "about fifty years" since its construction,[75] and Kendall's, speaking of "almost sixty years".[76] Architect J. Kendall is the grandfather of the Kendall in the game.[76]
  54. In S.1204, General Manager Laetitia says the year "marks the 60th anniversary of the hotel's founding".[77]
  55. While every game in the series describes the invention of the orbal technology as approximately 50 years prior, the exact year remains unclear.
  56. Exact year unknown. In S.1202, it is regarded as "[r]oughly fifty years ago" and "about the same time as the Orbal Revolution", putting the foundation of the Bracer Guild at approximately S.1150.
  57. Giliath Osborne was born in the home of a landowner in north Erebonia.[19] In S.1204 in Trails of Cold Steel, Osborne's age was said to be 53[Supplementary 3] and in S.1206 in Trails of Cold Steel III it is said to be 55,[Supplementary 4] suggesting he was born in S.1151 or S.1152.
  58. In S.1202, plans are made for a 50th anniversary model, meaning the Strega Corporation was founded in approximately S.1152.[80] In Trails of Cold Steel, Machias Regnitz says that the Strega Corporation "celebrated their 50th anniversary last year", putting the foundation in S.1153.[81] In Sun Door 5: "Campy's Who Wants to Be a Mirannaire? Trials in the Sky" of Trails in the Sky the 3rd, Campanella comments on a Strega Corporation related question that "1203 is actually this company's 50th anniversary".[82]
  59. Trails in the Sky the 3rd states that the three pupils left Leman around the same time.[84] Albert Russell is confirmed to have left in S.1155.[83] In S.1206, G. Schmidt says he himself left "50 years ago".[85]
  60. Exact time unknown. From S.1206, it happened "50 years ago",[33] but it may be earlier or later than S.1156.
  61. According to Giselle in S.1208, Grimcat stirred up trouble "about 24 or 25 years ago, as well as around half a century ago." (around S.1158 and S.1183).[64]
  62. Takes place "forty-five years ago" in S.1208, suggesting S.1163[64]
  63. From S.1206, it is said to have been "40 years ago" when Giliath Osborne was "13 years old" and Teo Schwarzer "5 years old".[31]
  64. Giliath Osborne, 54 years old in S.1206, was said to have enrolled at the age of 17,[31] suggesting the year S.1169.
  65. In S.1208, it is said "it's been about forty years since the last Tyrant appeared", suggesting approximately S.1168.[64]
  66. In S.1204, it is said it was built "30 years" earlier.[88] It serves as the Special Support Section building afterwards.
  67. In S.1204, it is said to have happened "30 years ago"[89][76], making it likely it happened in S.1174. Trails of Cold Steel IV re-iterates[70] it was a skirmish, not an actual war.
  68. Exact year unknown. It was before Olivert was born in S.1177, placing these events mid S.1170s. In S.1206, Eugent III is 48 years old (he is said to be "10 years older" than the "38-year-old" Albert von Bartholomeus[90]).[Supplementary 5] He enrolled at Thors Military Academy at the same age as Cedric at 16 (except Cedric was 1 year late), putting the year he enrolled at S.1174.
  69. In Trails in the Sky FC, his date of birth is confirmed as S.1177/4/1.
  70. In S.1206, Olivert Reise Arnor calls Mueller Vander his "friend for 20 years",[93] meaning it can be assumed that Mueller was assigned as his guardian in the early S.1180s.
  71. Exact year unknown. Rufus is 29 years old in S.1206, meaning he was born in ca. S.1177. It is unknown whether Helmut Albarea was a duke at this point in time already.
  72. In S.1178, the Merkabah are said to had "only recently been put into use".[94]
  73. In Trails in the Sky the 3rd, it is stated the Salt Pale appeared at 5:45 in the morning;[94] in Trails of Cold Steel III, however, it is said it appeared at 5:45 in the afternoon.[95]
  74. It stopped "[t]hree days after the pale's appearance".[94]
  75. In Trails in the Sky the 3rd it is suggested it was Barkhorn who investigated the Salt Pale remains after it ceased its salinification process. In Trails of Cold Steel III, however, it is said that Barkhorn investigated the Salt Pale "27 years ago", meaning S.1179 as seen from S.1206.[10]
  76. 76.0 76.1 76.2 76.3 In Star Door 2: "The Salt Pale" in Trails in the Sky the 3rd, it is the name of Georg Weissmann that is erased from the report.
  77. In S.1203, Cassius Bright reminiscences that is was "over twenty years ago" that Yun Ka-fai taught him the way of the sword.[100] Furthermore, Ka-fai's stay in Liberl was "around when [Anelace] was born"[100], who is "19 years old" in S.1203[Supplementary 6] referring to S.1183 at its latest. Cassius Bright was 45 years old in S.1202 during FC,[101] meaning he was taught forms of the Eight Leaves One Blade school in his early 20s.
  78. In Chapter 5: "That Which One Must Protect" of Trails in the Sky SC, Ragnard says it has been "[t]wenty years, ere I took to my slumber".
  79. According to Giselle in S.1208, Grimcat stirred up trouble "about 24 or 25 years ago, as well as around half a century ago." (around S.1158 and S.1183).[64]
  80. In S.1204 in both Trails from Zero and to Azure and Trails of Cold Steel, it happened "20 years ago"[5][86]
  81. Crossbell City's urban development plan consists of five phases and is scheduled to be completed in S.1204.[102]
  82. In S.1204 this happened "20 years" ago,[103], making it probably this takes place around S.1184.
  83. Exact year unknown. In S.1206, Albert von Bartholomeus is "38 years old",[90] meaning this would have taken place in the second half of the S.1180s.
  84. Plate near the bell on Central Square. Trails of Cold Steel III and Trails of Cold Steel IV confirm this.

The Orbal Gear activation test was on "Friday the 28th",[220] and 25 November in this year (Nial Burns's birthday) happened on a Friday,[221], this can only have taken place in October.

If Dorothy's statement is accurate, it would put the Phantasma incident as the end of November or the start of December.[222]
  289. In S.1204, it is stated Nial Burns and Dorothy Hyatt won the Fulitzer Prize the year before.[68] It is not specified in what month they win the prize, but Marcel Nielsen won his Fulitzer Price in S.1192 in November.
  290. Nial Burns and Dorothy Hyatt may have won for the Fulitzer Prize not only for their coverage of the Orbal Shutdown Phenomenon. Written in Crossbell Times - Issue 7, obtainable in Trails from Zero, Chapter 4: "Creeping Wisdom", is that Henry MacDowell's term lasts for another "four months" and that mayoral elections are planned to take place after "four months", meaning September. However, at the start of Trails to Azure in mid-August, the mayoral elections have already happened and it can be confirmed that the original plans have changed. Elections are held between Trails of Cold Steel's Imperial Chronicle - Issue 2 (obtainable on 22 May) and Issue 3 (15 June).
