Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter (空の軌跡(ソラノキセキ) the 1st (ザ・ファースト) is the remake of the first installment of the Trails series and first game of the Liberl arc, Trails in the Sky FC.

It was released on 19 September 2025.[1] A playable demo of the game's prologue was released on 21 August 2025.[2]

Synopsis[]

Setting[]

As the remake of Trails in the Sky FC, the game faithfully re-adapts the scenario and story with some lines being the exact same as those used in the original version.

The year is S.1202, 50 years since the Orbal Revolution began. In the Kingdom of Liberl, in the outskirts of Rolent City, a young woman and boy set out for a journey to find their father and become Senior Bracers.

Development[]

Nihon Falcom announced Trails in the Sky the 1st on 27 August 2024 during the Nintendo Direct as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. However, on 19 December 2024, it was officially announced that the title would also be released for PlayStation 5 and PC. On 20 August 2025, it was announced that the game would also be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 via an upgrade pack.[3] The game would release worldwide on 19 September 2025.

The announcement is quite unusual for Falcom; this marks the first time they've announced a game along with a worldwide release. It being announced through a Nintendo Direct for Switch as the platform (and not by themselves during a press release, often during their yearly December shareholder meeting) is also a first.

This is the first full remake of a game in the series.

The official site opened on 28 August 2024, the day after its reveal. The official site for the English language release opened the day of its reveal.

The game will be using, at least partially, the original XSEED localization.[4] Although Falcom has published every previous title in the series themselves before now,[5] the game will be published by GungHo Online Entertainment in the West. Moreover, according to retailer websites, this remake will also include additional localizations to German, French, and Spanish[6], making this the first game in the Trails series to ever come out in those languages. Unlike other game in the series, it has only released on PC via Steam, and no GOG release has been announced.

According to a Dengeki stream held on 30 August 2024, the game will include continuity details related to Sky which tie into later games in the series. The game will be entirely re-voiced and will be voiced in both Japanese and English. The game includes sidqeuests not found in the original release, some of which reference material from latter installments. As of now, only the First Chapter is confirmed; subsequent remakes will be dependent on sales.[7] Although no release date has been announced, the 1st Chapter includes a promotional trailer for the 2nd Chapter.
