Millium Orion - SD Model (Sen III)
Hold on, it looks like Millium wants to tell you something.
Hey-hey! White Rabbit here! Lammy scanned this article and said it contains unmarked spoilers for all Trails games. Turn back now if you don't want to get lasered! Okay, byee!

Tyrfing (ティルフィング) is the name of a next-generation Panzer Soldat model developed by Makarov.

Background[]

As part of his ambition to create a next generation Panzer Soldat model and prove his worth as both a man and a disciple of of G. Schmidt, Makarov started work on a new line of Soldats known as the Tyrfing. He collaborated with the former Awakeners Rean Schwarzer and Crow Armbrust, as well as several other members of Class VII to help field test the new models, culminating in a showdown between two variants each piloted by Rean and Crow.

Tyrfing units were originally envisioned as the next stage in Panzer Soldat technology, moving on from the Zauber Soldats and towards the level of performance achieved by Divine Knights. The main advantage of Divine Knights is said to be their ability to link with their Awakener and gain autonomy, leading to synchronisation that ordinary machines cannot match. The Zauber Soldats had used a similar system, but the Tyrfing unit avoids the disadvantageous mental degradation and mental pollution effects by instead using the engine to fuel a sense of autonomy in the machine, allowing them to learn from their pilot. They are equipped with the Zeiss Central Factory's latest Capel II computing system.

As the latest model of Panzer Soldat, Makarov made sure that the project was kept under wraps as he did not want the public to know about them just yet, so their existence is only known to a select group.

Trails into Reverie[]

The field tests can be played as the mini-game Project Tyrfing which is accessed from the True Reverie Corridor. Rean's Tyrfing S model first appears when it is miraculously summoned in a moment of hopelessness to repel ordinance from an automated Railway Cannon. Invoking the old method of summoning Valimar, Rean's eye flashes and he is basked in a golden aura, summoning the Tyrfing S to him and allowing him to instantly intercept the artillery shell and slice it in two where it can safely detonate, saving the Nomadic Settlement which had been targeted. This action seriously damages Tyrfing S and it crashes to the ground, incapable of movement and visible charred.

Makarov and George Nome hastily repair the unit in time for it to be used in the final battle at the Retributive Tower against Zoa Gilstein. Crow's Tyrfing X is also deployed. Even these new models are no match for the Zeroth Knight, however, whose seemingly unlimited power soon disables them. Unexpectedly, the spirits of Valimar and Ordine are able to inhabit the Tyrfing units, giving them more of a fighting chance, and keeping Zoa Gilstein at bay until Elysium can be shut down.

After the conclusion, Rean and Crow converse with each other in the hangar from their Tyrfing units. When Rean departs, a mysterious message 'YES REAN' appears on the console.
