X.E.R.O.S. (XEROS) is an orbal drone developed by the Verne Company accompanying Quatre Salision. He was introduced in Trails through Daybreak.

Background

XEROS appears as a moderate sized quadrupedal automaton resembling a dog or wolf. It has a deep black color and sports the Verne company logo on its head. Two handle bars protrude from XEROS neck.

XEROS is an autonomous orbal drone, a technology still relatively early in its infancy. XEROS is the terrestrial attack version, as opposed to floating support versions like FIO. It works on an AI that is based on a holo core, and XEROS displays behaviours typical of a dog. It cannot speak, but can imitate dog sounds like barks and howls in order to communicate.

XEROS can travel at high speeds and support the weight of up to two people on its back with slowing down. Functionally, XEROS can perform many physical tasks one would expect of a large breed of dog, including pursuit and tracking using scents.

Known modes include guard mode and Digamma Driver mode, where Quatre mounts XEROS and uses FIO as a lance.

Trails through Daybreak

XEROS accompanies Quatre wherever he goes. Risette Twinings is surprised to see functional orbal drones working in the field as it is still technology being developed. XEROS can operate independently from Quatre, and when the two are separated, XEROS can work with others until its original owner is located.
