The Zender Gate (ゼンダー門) is an Imperial military installation located south of the Nord Highlands.

Background[]

Situated beyond the Eisengard Range, Zender Gate marks the border between Erebonia and Nord Highlands.

Lieutenant General Zechs Vander and the 3rd Armored Division are currently the commanding unit of the gate. Sergeant Ogram serves as the gatekeeper.

Trails of Cold Steel[]

Background[]

Rean, Alisa, Emma, Jusis and Gaius arrive at Zender Gate after a long day of train travel to begin their third field study. Lt. Gen. Zechs welcomes them, revealing he and Gaius are already acquaintances, and that he recommended Gaius attend Thors Military Academy after he saved him during his first year after being stationed at the gate.

After the Watchtower is attacked, the 3rd Armored Division prepares to act against the Republican Army in retaliation, giving Group A a short deadline to investigate before they're forced to move out.

When Group A's investigation turns out the true location of the attackers, Zechs agrees to extend the deadline for them to apprehend the suspects before taking action. With the arrest of the culprits at the Ancient Quarry with help from Millium Orion and the intervention of Lechter Arundel on behalf of the Intelligence Division, war is averted and the 3rd Armored Division stands down.

  • Journey to a Foreign Land: Rean and Group A of Class VII arrive at Zender Gate to meet Lt. Gen. Zechs and pass through to the highlands.
  • Return to Zender: Lt. Gen. Zechs wants a monster in the highlands exterminated.

Trails of Cold Steel II[]

Background[]

After Rean and his group arrives to the highlands, they witness a skirmish between the 3rd Armored Division and the Noble Alliance. They immediately head to Zender Gate where Lt. Gen. Zechs welcomes them and informs them of their situation. With the Watchtower taken by a pincer attack between the Calvardian Army and the Noble Alliance, their communications jammed, and being attacked on both sides, it's only a matter of time before Zender Gate falls. They also learn Gaius is one of the Class VII members present in the highlands, so they leave towards the Nomadic Settlement.

After the Watchtower is retaken and communications restored, Zender Gate is able to hold its position, leaving the highlands at peace. Mint, another Thors student, is also staying at the gate before she's recruited onto the Courageous. Once the Nortia province leaves the Noble Alliance, the 3rd Armored Division is able to advance towards Heimdallr to take part in the final operation.

  • The Nord Highlands: Rean and his group learn the state of the highlands from Zechs Vander.
  • Zats Amore: Private Zats lost a memento during a skirmish in the south highlands.

  • It takes four hours by freight train to reach the Zender Gate by train from Roer;[1] Once the train is halfway through the Eisengard Range, it is another two hours.[2]
